Audubon Pennington Nature Park is a Charlotte County Park located at 1153 Alton Road in Port Charlotte. Peace River Audubon Society has a 99 year lease to maintain and manage the park . The park is a natural Florida environment pre-development. The creation of the park in 1989 was a joint venture with GDC, Charlotte County and PRAS a non-profit. The park is 9 acres with 3 ecosystems: an Oak Hammock, a Pine Flatwood and a Cypress Swamp. The main trail loop is 3/4 of a mile with several side trails. The park is a peninsula surrounded by fresh water canals. There are numerous native plants along with a variety of wildlife. Both water fowl and woodland birds can be observed there. The park is maintained by Peace River Audubon volunteers.
